Night Owl (1LP)
New Gerry Rafferty vinyl releases announced of the classic albums City to City, Night Owl and Snakes and Ladders, newly remastered at half-speed by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios. This method is used to improve audio quality by cutting at half speed allowing twice as long to record the mechanical groove. All three titles will be available on black vinyl everywhere on 25th August 2023, with City to City being a double LP.
Originally released in 1978, City To City was Gerry Rafferty’s second solo album and first release since his departure from Stealers Wheel. The album was a worldwide top 10 hit across the globe, including #1 in the US, going platinum in the process. The album is a masterclass in songwriting, production and musicianship, featuring arguably the most famous saxophone riff of all time with Baker Street, as well as the understated love song, the recent viral hit Right Down The Line.
Rafferty’s third studio album, Night Owl, was initially released in 1979 and reached the top 10 in the UK. It's since gone platinum in Canada and gold in the UK and US and features the tracks 'Get It Right Next Time' and 'Days Gone Down (Still Got the Light in Your Eyes)'.
Snakes and Ladders (1980), Gerry’s fourth album, includes "The Garden Of England" which was recorded at Beatles producer George Martin's AIR studio in Montserrat and "Johnny's Song", a remake of a song previously released by his former band Stealer's Wheels.
